This ad campaign for Crate & Barrel uses the idea of concept. I’ve learned in my Creative Concepts class that concept involves some type of wit. Wit, also associated with creativity, is the idea of combining two existing ideas to crate a whole new idea or concept. Using comparisons is just one way of doing this. By either focusing on unexpected similarities or significant differences, you are able to establish this level of wit. These Crate & Barrel ads use the idea of unexpected similarities by juxtaposing an individual to a piece of furniture. Great concept, however, the execution could have been thought through a little better. The copy that is supposed to be describing the individual and the piece of furniture doesn't match up quite as well as it could.
