We watched this video in my Creative Concept class last week. It’s a great question: Where do good ideas come from? One of our first assignments in that class was to get out of our rut, to spend an entire week doing things differently. I took different routes into work. Used my roommates guest pass to her gym. Ate lunch at different places on campus during my work day. Switched from my go to the Today Show to Good Morning America. What did I learn? That Ed (Gold, our professor) was right. Even if you do this task for just a day you will be exposed to new things, because you’re doing things out of the ordinary. You pay closer attention to what you are doing and begin to notice different things, which if you’re lucky, will inspire your next great idea. It’s a simple concept, but it’s genius.
